Saget v Trump

This lawsuit challenged the Trump administration’s decision to terminate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians. It alleged violations of law and the Constitution by Trump administration officials seeking to operationalize the President’s racial animus toward Haitians.

The case was litigated in the U.S District Court for the Eastern District of New York by Just Futures Law, National Immigration Project of NLG and the law firms of Kurzban, Kurzban, Weinger, Tetzeli and Pratt P.A, (Kurzban), and Mayer Brown LLP.

Update: After holding a trial in January 2019, the District Court granted a preliminary injunction in support of plaintiffs, blocking the termination. The case settled after the Biden Administration granted TPS to Haitians in 2021.
